AI product recommendations are product suggestions generated by an AI system from a shopper's stated needs and the store's live catalog, delivered in conversation or on the page, rather than from a fixed "customers also bought" rule.

In a chat setting, the shopper describes what they need ("a gift for a runner, under $50, ships by Friday"), the assistant retrieves matching products from the synced catalog, filters by the constraints, and presents a short list with prices, variants, and links, often with a one-line reason for each. Good systems only recommend products that exist and are in stock, use the store's own descriptions rather than invented specifications, and can suggest complementary items or bundles when it makes sense. Classic recommendation engines rank by behaviour data (views, co-purchases); conversational recommendations add the ability to ask a clarifying question first.
